Being a SAHM: What I like most….

is the smile on my children’s faces when they wake up in the morning! This is the best possible gift I could get from my children. They know that mommy is here for them. They enjoy being with me….for the time being. (they are 3years and 6mo)

This is what I think of when my 3year old is driving me up the walls. In the midst of a melt down the other day, after a time out, little mr. came to me and said “mommy you da bestest.” with a big ol’ hug! Oh it melted my heart and I promptly forgot why he was in trouble. Times like these I cherish. As I know when he gets older he’ll  (both of them actually) get to a point where he will no longer want to be near me. He’ll be screaming “I hate you.” while slamming his door. (Im hoping I raise him with enough respect to not do this, but him being my son…it’s bound to happen.)

My birthday was the other day and they and big Mr. made me a card. on the inside it had both of their foot prints and big Mr. wrote “When mommy turned 30, our feet were this big.” My son also drew a picture of batman! This is the best birthday gift I have ever recieved!!!

Home Management Binder

I finally made one that I LOVE and that I’ll actually use! The sections that I use are: Schedules, Lists, Calendar, Recipes and Shopping Lists, Bibles Studies, Notes, Contacts. Within these sections are tabbed papers; especially in the Lists and Bible Studies sections. Here are a few pictures of it.

I really find that having a binder helps me stay on top of what I need to do. Also, if I’ve “called in sick” my husband is able to pick up the next thing that needs to be done. 🙂 Do you have a home management binder? Do you use a different system? I would love to hear about it!

Psalms 3:5 SOAP

Psalm 3:5 (NASB)

5 I lay down and slept;
I awoke, for the LORD sustains me.

No matter how many times my soul gets beat down, the LORD sustains my spirit and supports me on getting back up and fighting the fight.

When life throws me a curve ball, I have to remember that the LORD is there supporting me through it all. I have to remember to fully lean on Him.

Dear LORD – please help me to remember you in times of strife. Lord, God please remind me that I am stronger with you on my side. Lord please help me lean on you fully. Amen.

It’s been a few days.

Hi all. Well like the title says, it’s been a few days….I’ve been doing OK. I’m still talking funny because of my stay in the hospital with the reaction to meds I had. I don’t know why I’m still talking funny. The doc said it would go away in about 2 weeks. I have an appointment with my doctor on the 6th. we’ll see what she says about it.

Onto other things. I’ve been irritating my hubby lately…ok well I always do but this is more when he is driving. I have developed this irrational fear that we are going to get into a wreck and I will loose both of my legs. I have no idea where this fear came from. I don’t know if it’s a control issue because I’m not the one driving (i’m perfectly fine when i’m driving). I just have no idea how this came about. I finally told him today. I think he understands more that it isn’t HIM that is making me feel panicy, I just dont know what to do about this.

What are your thoughts on the situation? Do you have any irational fears that you want to share?

Psalms4:6 SOAP

Day 2 of Psalms in 60 days.

Psalm 4:7 (New American Standard Bible)

7You have put gladness in my heart,
More than when their grain and new wine abound.

God puts gladness on our hearts more than material objects.

Remember that the next newest thing isn’t better then the gladness God puts in my heart. As gladness with material objects is temporary and short term; God’s gladness is everlasting.

Dear LORD – Thank you for the wonderful scripture this afternoon! Thank you O God for reminding me that you are the one who puts the true gladness in my heart, not these tangible items here on Earth. Amen.

additional scriptures referenced to this one:

Psalm 97:11

11Light is sown like seed for the righteous
And gladness for the upright in heart.

Psalm 97:12

12Be glad in the LORD, you righteous ones,
And give thanks to His holy name.

Acts 14:17

17and yet He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good and gave you rains from heaven and fruitful seasons, satisfying your hearts with food and gladness.”

Our husbands should come before our selves

Philippians 2:3 (New American Standard Bible)

3Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;
The LORD asks us to regard others as more important than ourselves; other’s needs come before our own selfish wants. For me this means doing the dishes, even if I don’t want to, because my husband likes a clean kitchen. Folding the laundry, even if I don’t want to, because my husband likes clean clothes. I’m not saying that he NEVER does this. I am a stay at home mom and these are my jobs. Yes he does them and that is my own fault and selfishness coming through. We humans aren’t perfect after all. I have been trying to be better since I read this scripture though; I think this is what matters…that we try with a happy heart to put others before ourselves.
So instead of viewing it like “oh he’s so lazy, he doesn’t do anything around the house.” think about this scripture and think “God would like it if I did this.” Our ultimate goal is to please God.

What’s in your cleaning caddy?

I really need to restock my cleaning caddy. It’s lacking in some cleaning supplies. Right now I have hand towels, a bottle of water & vinegar, comet, the Works toilet cleaner, my cleaning schedule, dry erase marker, gloves and hand sanitizer.

My cleaning schedule is something I mark off weekly and daily. If I don’t have this list handy, I don’t clean. There is just something with having the list that helps me get things clean!

Do you have a list? Do you have your supplies in a caddy or just in a cupboard?

I would love to hear how you keep organized while cleaning!
